Goldman Sachs reckons newly launched multiple myeloma treatment Darzalex (daratumumab) "represents a blockbuster opportunity and we model $2bn by 2020". It's early days, but initial sales will be visible in the Q4 numbers.

I would first like to address our cash position and remind you about our capital allocation approach. At the end of the quarter we had approximately $18.5 billion of net cash, which consists of approximately $38.5 billion of cash and marketable securities and approximately $20 billion of debt. This is a higher level of cash than we typically hold. And as Alex said earlier, we are actively looking for the right opportunities to deploy that capital to create greater value for our shareholders.

But we are patient. We are seeking companies with a mutual desire to partner. And we'll only act when we see the right value creating deal at the right price with the right partners.

Yeah, Glenn, look, we're fortunate in that because of our strong performance, our strong cash flows, that our balance sheet is actually quite strong. I also believe that if you look at our track record of how we've utilized that cash to make the right capital investments in companies, that we've been successful with that. And look, we think that there's opportunities across all three of our different sectors.

And it's not an algorithm per se, as we decide which and where to invest, but rather it really depends on the opportunity. And many of the factors that Dominic described earlier, as far as what are the specific platforms that we're looking at? Where is the partner in terms of their decision making, what they want to do with the business? And frankly what the competitive environment is like?

So we think that there are opportunities. We intend to be quite active as we look at 2016 and beyond in a manner that's been consistent with our track record in that area.

Besparelser og store opkøb på dagsordenen hos J&J

Den store life science-koncern Johnson & Johnson beroliger markedet med omfattende besparelser, der skal sikre indtjeningen, og melder samtidig om en trecifret milliardsum i kontanter, som man gerne vil bruge.

Spændende, men så længe JDW sidder på magten og har opbakning i "iglerbestyrelsen" som tjener gode penge uden at yde en skid så bliver butikken ikke solgt. Iglerne vil jo ikke miste deres fine indtægt. Måske vi skulle kræve biksen solgt til næste generelforsamling for rette pris, hvilket dog ikke vil være en fordel for aktionærer med lang tidshorisont.
