"Goldman Sachs sees much more upside in $NVO ’s Wegovy pill than the market currently prices in.
After a strong U.S. launch, with 20,000+ prescriptions already in week two, Goldman estimates peak annual sales above DKK 40bn by 2031, of which ~DKK 36bn would come from the U.S. alone. That is 25–35% above current consensus, which Goldman calls conservative.

This challenges the prevailing market view that Novo will be the “loser” in the oral obesity race once Eli Lilly launches its pill later in 2026.

• Early prescription data point to clear demand, even in a much more mature obesity market
• The fasting requirement (empty stomach + 30 min wait) is unlikely to be a major barrier for patients actively seeking weight loss
• Oral Wegovy benefits from higher dosing than Rybelsus, making comparisons with the diabetes pill misleading
• Goldman argues Wegovy pill has far greater market potential than Rybelsus ever had.

Bank of America analysts calculate that the oral version needs about 2,000 prescriptions per week in order for the company to meet 2026 sales estimates.
