Hvis tilstrækkeligt mange af de mere end 40.000 sagsøgere accepterer forliget, vil det skulle gælde alle sagsøgere og dermed beskytte Johnson & Johnson mod nye retssager.
Johnson & Johnson har allerede tabt et dusin retssager forbundet med talkumpulveret, og selskabet blev i 2018 tvunget til at betale 2,5 mia. dollar i erstatning til 20 kvinder, som havde udviklet kræft i æggestokkene.

Aktien i Johnson & Johnson steg i tirsdagens eftermarked med 3,1 pct. I den ordinære handel vendte den også et mindre minus til et plus på 1,1 pct.
