$NVO ’s partnership with Brazilian drugmaker Eurofarma was announced a few days ago, and it’s already reshaping the landscape for diabetes and obesity treatments in Brazil.Starting in October, Novo will launch two new locally produced versions of semaglutide, Poviztra and Extensior, distributed by Eurofarma. The goal: make the drug more accessible by cutting prices up to 10% lower than Ozempic and Wegovy through local manufacturing and reduced logistics and tax costs.

The partnership is also strategic. Novo faces growing competition from $LLY ’s Mounjaro and cheaper local versions from EMS, while the company’s global market cap has fallen sharply amid pricing and counterfeit challenges.
By teaming up with Eurofarma, Novo Nordisk hopes to strengthen its foothold in one of Latin America’s fastest-growing markets for metabolic and weight-loss drugs.

Min tidligere info om "fase 1/2 starter snart" var baseret på spekulationer fra 2024-analyser (f.eks. BioSpace-artikler om GLP-1-potentiale), men det har ikke materialiseret sig. Der er kun indirekte data:Observatoriske studier viser, at GLP-1-klassen (inkl. Lillys dulaglutide) reducerer demensrisiko med 15-40% hos diabetespatienter (f.eks. en januar 2025-studie fra Washington University).

Uden dedikerede forsøg kunne de først starte fase 1/2 i 2027 (efter obesitas-godkendelse), fase 3 i 2028-2029, submission 2030+. Det giver Novo 3-4 års lead på markedet – nok til at etablere semaglutide som standard, før Lilly overhovedet kan følge trop.
