UBS:
Discontinuations in STEP UP were lower than in STEP 1 according to our conversations
with the company, which indicates that tolerability was reasonable. The study allowed
for some flexibility in dosing, but not to the extent of the REDEFINE dosing regimens (the
company state the STEP UP is more similar to the original STEP dosing regimens than vs
REDEFINE) -
In terms of % of patients that finished on the top dose, Novo state that it
was lower for 7.2mg vs 2.4mg but have not provided numbers -
Pushback from the results is that this step up in efficacy for sema reduces the need for
CagriSema and does not extend the semaglutide patent cliff. We still see CagriSema as
another step ahead of efficacy, with REDEFINE-1 providing 2% additional weight loss
despite the more flexible dosing regimens and could provide further differentiation in
type-2 diabetics and comorbidities. -
We
see the results as providing a boost for the longer term Wegovy franchise, albeit does
not extend patent life. We expect any decision on filing and launch to take account of
the supply situation, but we would expect any regulatory review to be only c.6 months
given it is a supplemental dosage and not a new indication. -
