Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Biotech unit entered a licensing deal with Zymeworks potentially worth more than $1.4 billion to develop up to six bispecific antibodies directed against undisclosed therapeutic targets, Zymeworks announced Monday. Under the agreement, which includes an upfront payment from Janssen of $50 million, the drugmaker will obtain a royalty-bearing license to use Zymeworks' Azymetric and EFECT platforms

As part of the transaction, Zymeworks is eligible to receive up to $282 million in development and up to $1.12 billion in commercial milestone payments, and tiered royalties on potential sales. Janssen also has the option to develop two additional bispecific programmes subject to a future option payment.

Genmabs guldæg Darzalex kan blive godkendt til førstelinjebehandling af knoglemarvskræft i 2018 og levere de første data i solide tumorer omkring sommeren. Samtidig er der lagt i ovnen til et travlt år i biotelselskabets egen pipeline, hvor man vil gå fra to til fire kliniske kandidater og starte et potentielt pivotalt studie for sin fremmeste kandidat.
