One of the largest shipowners in the world, Teekay (NYSE:TK) is another example of how bad timing can ruin everything. In the first half of 2014 when the energy crisis translated into oil price deflation, TK stock soared. Why? Lower prices boosted the oil trade, resulting in higher demand for Teekay's services.</p>
<p dir="auto">But from late 2014 into early 2016, TK stock plummeted. As oil prices recovered, they meant higher operating costs for energy transportation. More importantly, the inability to transport all available oil production caused severe supply chain efficiency headwinds.</p>
<p dir="auto">To cope with the disastrous turn of events, Teekay cut its payout by 90% in 2016. Unfortunately, TK stock has continued to decline in the markets since then. Although it might appeal to contrarians, this is probably one of the dividend stocks to avoid.</p>

<p dir="auto">"I en julehilsen og oppdatering til Nordic American Tankers-aksjonærer og -investorer kommer reder Herbjørn Hansson med optimistiske ord om tankmarkedet fremover.</p>
<p dir="auto">«Bonanza i tankmarkedet fortsetter», er tittelen på eposten.</p>
<p dir="auto">Hansson forteller at selskapet i løpet av de siste ukene har sikret fraktoppdrag for en rekke av skipene som strekker seg godt ut i neste år og første kvartal 2020.</p>
<ul>
<li>Disse fraktoppdragene i spotmarkedet generer mellom 35.000 og 80.000 dollar per dag per skip, skriver Hansson i meldingen.</li>
</ul>
<p dir="auto">Han mener dette bekrefter at tankmarkedet har snudd og at det nå er sterkere enn noensinne.</p>
<p dir="auto">Nordic American Tankers' driftskostnader er på rundt 8.000 dollar per dag per skip, og av 23 identiske suezmax-skip er 21 nå i spotmarkedet".</p>

Jeg tror det vi har set indtil nu kun er begyndelsen. Som jeg har kunnet læse mig frem til vil der mangle tankkapacitet, når miljøkravene træder i kraft efter nytår og skibe som ikke lever op til kravene bliver i stedet brugt som ekstra lagerkapacitet for at undgå "stop and go" når nu transport kapacitet bliver en knap faktor.</p>
