Scotland's largest salmon farmers are taking advantage of the first direct flight from Scotland to China according to a press release from Marine Harvest Scotland.

Marine Harvest sent 161 boxes (approximately 3,300 kilos) of fresh salmon on the Hainan Airways inaugural flight to Beijing from Edinburgh.

Georgina Wright, head of sales at Marine Harvest, said: "It's extremely fitting that one of Scotland's top exports is using the very first direct flight from Edinburgh to China. Getting our salmon to market as quickly as possible is key to our success when exporting to markets all over the world.

"This new direct service allows us to reach China even faster than usual which is a huge advantage. As global demand for our salmon continues to grow it is great to have additional freight options on our doorstep."

Until now Marine Harvest has used flights from Heathrow or indirect flights via the Middle East to transport salmon to China, one its top four export markets.

In 2017 the firm exported 32,000 tonnes of salmon to more than 20 countries worldwide, including 3,500 tonnes to China.

Marine Harvest ventes å legge frem et operasjonelt driftsresultat på 184 millioner euro for årets tredje kvartal.

Det viser gjennomsnittet av estimater Infront Estimates har innhentet for TDN Direkt blant syv analytikere.

Til sammenligning bokførte Marine Harvest et operasjonelt driftsresultat på 175 millioner euro i andre kvartal.

Analytikerne venter i snitt et slaktevolum i tredje kvartal på 108.000 tonn i kvartalet.

Driftsresultatet pr kilo i den norske oppdrettsvirksomheten ventes til 2,12 euro i kvartalet, mens den chilenske oppdrettsvirksomheten ventes å levere et driftsresultat på 0,87 euro pr kilo. For oppdrettsvirksomheten i Skottland ventes 1,44 euro pr kilo, mens Canada-virksomheten ventes å levere 0,89 euro pr kilo.
