Oil Tankers: Lower crude oil prices have tempted buyers into the market, and there is a lot of activity despite the lack of Chinese demand. VLCC spot rates rose 16% w/w to $31k/d on Friday, while there were mixed fortunes for the other oil tanker vessel classes. The market for MR oil product tankers is currently very tight, with limited tonnage availability in the USG, the UK and the Red Sea.

LPG Carriers: VLGC spot rates remain remarkably high in light of the Coronavirus and lower energy prices. Although the benchmark BLPG has fallen significantly on a USD/tonne basis, lower fuel cost has compensated owners on a TCE-basis. The price differential US/FE is still supportive of LPG shipments, but we do see downside risk in the coming months.
